Drafted, pending review. These documents are drafted and are awaiting sign off. They replace the previous legal centre, which named three of our domains and left the rest uncovered, and they replace the pages on individual sites that reproduced another organisation's policy. Until sign off is recorded here, treat them as the intended position rather than the settled one.

Who this applies to

This notice is for residents of California and sits alongside the privacy notice rather than replacing it. Where the two differ for a California resident, this one governs.

What we collect and why

In the categories the California Consumer Privacy Act uses, we collect identifiers such as your name, email address and telephone number, commercial information about products you have enquired about or licensed, and internet activity such as your IP address and the pages you viewed. We collect it to answer you, to provide services you asked for, and to keep the sites secure. The detail is in the privacy notice.

We do not sell or share your personal information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined by the Act. We have not done so in the preceding twelve months. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under sixteen.

Sensitive personal information

We do not collect sensitive personal information as the Act defines it, and we do not use or disclose it for purposes that would trigger a right to limit.

Your rights

  • To know what we have collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it, and who we disclosed it to.
  • To receive a copy of the specific pieces we hold.
  • To have it deleted, subject to the exceptions the Act allows.
  • To have inaccurate information corrected.
  • Not to be discriminated against for exercising any of these. We will not charge you a different price or give you a worse service.

How to exercise them

Email hello@shahzadandrainer.com with "California privacy request" in the subject and say which right you are exercising. We will confirm receipt within ten business days and respond within forty five days, extending once by a further forty five if we need to, and telling you if we do.

Verification

Before we hand over or delete data we need to be reasonably sure you are the person the data is about. We will normally do this by matching two pieces of information you have already given us. We will not ask for more than is necessary, and anything you send for verification is used only for that.

Authorised agents

You may use an authorised agent. We will ask for written permission signed by you, and we may still ask you to verify your own identity with us directly.

Shine the Light

California Civil Code section 1798.83 lets residents request information about disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We make no such disclosures.
